BlackBerry CEO says turnaround two-thirds complete

BlackBerry Ltd Chief Executive John Chen said on Monday he was two-thirds of the way toward achieving his goal of turning the Canadian technology company's fortunes around.

"We have made investment over a billion-plus, all in software, all in security, and now we need to execute it," Chen said at an event in Toronto two days before the company will report its second-quarter earnings.

Waterloo, Ontario-based BlackBerry, a once-dominant smartphone maker, has shifted its focus to software that companies and governments use to manage their mobile devices.

Chen, who became CEO in 2013, had said he would decide by September on the fate of its unprofitable hardware unit. He did not provide an update when asked about the issue.

Germany seeking comprehensive 5G mobile network

Germany wants to become the first country to set up a comprehensive 5G mobile network, the Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung quoted digital infrastructure minister Alexander Dobrindt as saying in Tuesday's editions.

He told the newspaper that a 5G service would be needed to keep up with the high bandwidth required in the future for self-driving cars, medical applications, and other emerging technologies.

"We want Germany to be the leading market for 5G and the first country that will have a blanket 5G network," the newspaper quoted Dobrindt as saying.

The new 5G service will be 10 times faster than the current 4G service.

A five-point strategy paper prepared by the ministry calls for all main transportation arteries and at least the 20 largest German cities to be fitted with 5G networks by 2025, with key decisions to be made by 2018.

Determine your BIOS Mode:

Well, there is a very natural step to determine your BIOS Mode, and we are giving it below only for those who don’t know how to check BIOS Mode.

Those who knows how to do that may skip this step and follow the next steps.

Here we begin:

On your keyboard, Windows Key + R and the Run Command Dialog Box will Open.

Enter this run command and click OK: msinfo32

The system information Dialog Box will open. Click on Top Left System Summary and then search for the option: BIOS Mode on the right.

You will find either your BIOS Mode is UEFI or Legacy.

Based on that, we are going to follow the steps below.

So make sure you are fully aware of the BIOS mode you are in.

Disable Secure Boot:

You need to Disable Secure Boot before installing Remix OS else it will not Boot.

What is Secure Boot?

Secure Boot is a feature made by Microsoft on your windows that will allow booting of only Windows OS signed by Microsoft and Reject other Operating Systems.

What are the advantages and the disadvantages?

Well, the advantage is to protect you from hacking software that may try to install a foreign operating system and hijack your computer. Secure Boot checks for Microsoft Signature before booting each time and makes sure you are in Windows before booting.

The disadvantage, on the other hand, is that it will also not let you Dual Boot your computer with any other Operating System. So, you need to disable it.

How to Disable Secure Boot?

A step by step guide to do that is available here. Follow it and you can quickly disable secure boot.

Create a New Drive Partition on your computer:

Now we will create a New Drive Partition on our computer where we can install our Remix Operating System.

The drive should be of 20GB Space at least.

Does The Police Have Any Constitutional Right To Go Through A Citizen`s Phone?

Hello guys, this issue is what we must have heard of and some even experienced first hand. I`m talking about the issue of Nigerian police going through one`s phone and laptop.

Its a norm especially in Lagos that once a police man sees you and remembers that he is broke, he`ll call you and the first thing is to seize your phone and then start going through it to know if you`re a "yahoo" boy or girl.

Sometimes you`ll even have to bail your self and your phone if he doesn`t understand or know a particular application in the phone (There was a story on FP one time about how a boy`s phone was seized cos he had an app he uses in doing his online business).

Apple has released the iPhone 7 and also Samsung has released theirs too. these phones are quite expensive and with the current economy it`ll take a whole lot of sacrifice to buy one of them. When they get into the country, and people start buying them, will the police now term any young guy who buys it and term him a "yahoo" person?

Tecno is also about to release the Phantom 6 and Phantom 6+ which should be much more affordable. Now if I buy either the iPhone 7, or the samsung or any of the Tecno phantom series, and the police one day stops me and want to search my phone, do I have the right to tell them NO??

Now this brings me to the question; DOES THE NIGERIAN POLICE HAVE ANY CONSTITUTIONAL RIGHT TO GO THROUGH ANY CITIZEN`S PHONE OR LAPTOP WITHOUT A WARRANT? especially when there isn`t an on-going investigation.

Most Police officers are terrible, that uniform make em feel they can do and undo. Most of em knows nothing about human right and constitution.

A week back my friend was driving along Lafia road when a camry hit him from behind, he lost control then ran into two keke napep parked by the road side. Four persons lost their lives included a pregnant woman, luckily police officers were stationed at the scene of the accident. The camry driver ran off. my friend was hospitalized when policemen came and took him straight no short cuts to cell. The families of the deceased gave statements at the station that since it was no fault of his that the police should set him free. Likewise those officers stationed at the point of the incident also gave their statements saying my friend wasn't at fault.

The midfielder's performance against Leicester City in the EFL Cup was decisive and he surely must be handed a chance to start against Arsenal on Saturday

Two stunning goals, an assist and a starring role in a 4-2 victory over the reigning Premier League champions. Now, surely, Antonio Conte must find a way of fitting Cesc Fabregas in his starting XI - especially with Arsenal waiting at the Emirates Stadium on Saturday.

Fabregas has yet to start a Premier League match under the Italian manager but took full advantage of a rare opportunity against Leicester City to help secure a dramatic extra-time win.

The 29-year-old has been lucky to enjoy spells at three top clubs, where he has mostly played the protagonist, but has had to be patient during one of the most challenging periods of his career as he attempts to win favour with Conte.

Fabregas looked resurgent at the King Power Stadium, dominating possession in midfield and also impacting the game higher up the pitch. Along with his goals and his assist, Fabregas completed more key passes, delivered more crosses and took more shots than any other Chelsea player.

The statistics are emphatic and he has hauled Chelsea out of the first small blip of the Conte era following a draw against Swansea City and defeat to Liverpool.

It took great character for Fabregas to come out of the darkness at Stamford Bridge, with his form being bad enough to see him dropped from the Spain squad for the recent internationals at the start of the month.

AC Milan made a late deadline day move for Fabregas, who has watched Oscar, Nemanja Matic and N'Golo Kante shoot up the pecking order above him since Conte has taken charge.

Fabregas, nevertheless, will need to add a different side to his game and showed here that he has the physicality to work up and down the pitch while influencing proceedings in the way he has traditionally become known for.

"In my opinion he's improving a lot in many aspects, above all the defensive situations," Conte has admitted. "I'm very clear with my players: when a player deserves to play, I put him in the team."

On this evidence he has done enough improving to return to the first XI, and there will be restlessness developing in the stands as long as he does not.

If Fabregas remains on the bench against Arsenal, Conte's honeymoon period will well and truly have come to an end. Chelsea were dominated in midfield by Liverpool - the new coach cannot risk the same happening again without his best playmaker on the pitch.

Facebook To Launch Express WiFi - Enjoy Free 100 MB For 14 days

The owner of Facebook, Mark Zuckerberg was here in Nigeria, Lagos State to oversee the free basic internet service and also to promote Express WiFi .
It was reported that the billionaire was seen walking freely in the streets of Lagos, at Yaba precisely. Though he came here for business.
